Poetry Writing Workshop with Kathleen Craft
In this poetry writing workshop, you'll get out of your own head as you explore the persona poem. A persona poem is written from the first-person perspective of an assumed voice—a "mask" or character—that is not the poet, allowing the writer to explore experiences and emotions outside their own, often taking the form of dramatic monologues, letters, or journal entries from historical figures, inanimate objects, animals, or fictional beings.
Participants will look at a few well-known and less known examples, and then spend some time writing their own!
Kathleen Kraft is a published poet and a yoga therapist. Her poems have appeared in Five Points, Gargoyle, Sugar House Review, and many other journals as well as the anthology What They Bring: The Poetry of Migration and Immigration. She is the author of the chapbook Fairview Road (Finishing Line Press), and has received three Pushcart nominations.
Space is limited. Registration is required.
To sign up, call 413-684-6112 or email dalton@cwmars.org.

Grown Up Craft Night - Art Collages and Greeting Cards
Join us for our next monthly “Grown Up Craft Night.” All supplies are provided, you just need to show up!
April’s Craft: Art Collages and Greeting Cards - Artist Elizabeth Cassidy will guide participants in getting comfortable with their creative intuition and creating their own fine art collage. The piece will have nine circles: three rows of three. Then they can be dressed up by cutting up the circles and adding smaller circles and other shapes to each circle. The best part is going with what speaks to each person. It is about being free to design their piece of art. A simple frame and you can hang your art!
The second part of the class will be creating a greeting card using materials that will be supplied by the teacher. Go realistic or abstract, the choice will be theirs. At the end they will have a card to send to someone, or they can get a mat and then frame it.

Yoga nidra is a type of meditation practice originating from ancient India, commonly known as "yogic sleep." It is a contemplative practice that involves following guided prompts while sitting or lying in a comfortable position through various stages of relaxation, short breathing exercises, and visualization. The practice aims to induce a state of deep relaxation and meditation, similar to the liminal state between waking and sleeping. This state can provide numerous physical, emotional, and mental benefits, such as reducing stress and anxiety, improving sleep, enhancing creativity, and promoting well-being. In this state, you may experience a sense of timelessness, expansiveness, and interconnectedness.
Kathleen Kraft is a Kripalu-certified yoga therapist who has been teaching yoga for twelve years. She is also a poet and writer. Her chapbook is called "Fairview Road," and her articles, essays and poems have appeared in many publications, including Yoga International, Embodied Resilience Through Yoga, and What They Bring: The Poetry of Migration and Immigration
