The Dalton Library is pleased to welcome back The StarCats Jazz Trio for their 2026 program “Daydream.” Life is so busy these days, we forget to relax. But let your mind wander and see what fresh ideas emerge! Inspired by the public outreach of Winton Marsalis, the vocal brilliance of Ella Fitzgerald, and the humor of Mose Allison, the StarCats intertwine standards by greats like Duke Ellington and Thelonius Monk, Bossa Nova by Jobim, and custom arrangements of pop/rock songs from diverse artists like Stevie Wonder, Sarah Bareilles, Joni Mitchell and Soundgarden. You’ll hear swinging Retro-pop, spicy Latin rhythms, soul-aching ballads and mellow blues.

The StarCats, a delightfully eclectic New England jazz trio, was formed in 2017 by vocalist Sarah Clay with the vision to make jazz more fun, accessible, and entertaining for everyone. They create a new themed concert program each year. For 2026, the StarCats present Daydream.

Sarah Clay (vocals/flute) thrills with expressive, crystalline tone and sultry flute. Bob Ferrier (guitar) sparks joy with tasty chords and playful improvisation. Steve Bulmer (upright bass) lays down a sweet, rhythmic groove that soothes the soul. Toe-tapping music that makes you smile!

The StarCats have performed at the Northampton Jazz Festival, the Litchfield Sunrise Concert Series, the Pittsfield Jazz Festival, the 1794 Meetinghouse, Workshop 13, Summer on Strong Street Festival, the Westfield Athenaeum, the Berkshire Athenaeum, and more.
